Charity Rides in Ormond Beach Florida
The Ormond Beach Kiwanis Club Charity Ride was held on Saturday Janurary 9th, 2010 rain or shine. Sleet and Snow is what the weather provided to Central Florida that day to everyone's disbelief.
The rides started at The Casements/Rockerfeller Gardens Park with the longer Metric Century Ride and Metric Half Century beginning at 8:00 AM followed by family rides at 9:00 AM. A number of dedicated families and individuals braved the frigid conditions to ride for this worthy cause.
Avid Cycling is looking forward to providing sponsorship and possibly additional support to this charity event the next time it is held. During a discussion with a representative of the event, it was mentioned the event may be moved to the Fall time frame to avoid the weather complications we're certain caused the less than expected turn out. We'll stay in contact with the event organizers and bring you the information as it becomes available.
